Happy 4th of July (2011)
Happy 4th of July! Time to celebrate with family, friends and loved ones. It has been exactly one year since I have completed my treatments for cancer.
We spent the day in the lake swimming. Last night we attended the annual celebration of Independence Day at Tom's Pond.
The Fire works were awesome. They played patriotic music during the firework show. All the grandbabies were there and children except for my daughter. Missed having her there. The children Had a wonderful time playing and when the Fireworks began they sat and watched and cheered them on.
Have a blessed and safe 4th of July. Remember to make lots and lots of memories and to have fun.

1 Year Later
Well April 15, 2011 has come and gone. This day is known as Tax Day, to me it has a different meaning. It has been 1 year since I received that call and was told I had cancer. This year is a celebration of being cancer free. It is amazing on how much my life has changed in one year. I have to say I love my life and everything about it.
We have decided to take a cruise. So we will be looking into making these plans and getting it booked soon.

Foods We Eat, Is there a connection?
Think about it - What are we eating? Is it fresh home cooked meals or some food made from a factory and put in a box? Do we really know what or how it is made with? We just trust it, buy it, cook it then eat it. This could very well be why we see increased health issues and concerns.

7 Months WOW!!!!!
Can you believe it??? Seven months since I have completed my treatment. I had a check up in September and all was good. On January 5th this year I had my 6 month check up, on January 23rd I received the call that rocked my world again - "your pap has come back abnormal, you will need to come back and have a biopsy done". So you can only imagine the emotions. Went the following week and they took 3 biopsys. I had my follow up appointment with my Radiation Oncologist, he explained I probably would never have a normal pap due to all the radiation. So I felt so much better. A couple days latter received my results from my biopsy and they were normal.
I have learned alot of things since my journey thru. Life after cancer is so different. Before I started my cancer treatment I had to attend a chemo class it was very informative and I was so glad I did. I have come to realize there needs to be an after cancer class. I have learned medications can cause a reoccurence. So important that your health care providers know your health conditions. That day I had my check up appointment with my radiation oncologist I was reading a magazine on life after cancer - foods - our diet can also cause a reoccurence. Now do you see the importance of starting a life after cancer class. Then today, I just was not "myself" it started last night, I could hardly hold my eyes open so tired, past couple of weeks having leg cramps, everytime I would stand up seemed like my heart was over working. I went to the dr to have them check my blood pressure. It was high, but my heart rate was even high, my normal was around 70 today it was 105. The nurse said I was dehydrated. I told her I find myself going all day sometimes without drinking anything. Before cancer I always would drink several glasses of water but now find myself not thirsty. She explained to me chemo sometimes interferes with our sensor that tells us we are thirsty.
I am now into researching the foods that we eat. I have started buying milk that is not injected with artificial hormones (http://www.sparkmanscreamvalley.com/about-us/take-a-tour). I buy organic juice for my son http://www.honesttea.com/kids/, organic rice. This is just a beginning. Be watching my blog I will be posting updates on foods and health concerns. I hope it will be educational and beneficial.

December 12, 2010
Five months since I have finished my treatment. I had been doing fairly well. Seems like the past month I have been more tired and bone pain. Not to mention pain from the site the tumor was located. I have been going thru post cancer (reminds me of post partum depression. I guess everything is finally hitting me what I have been thru this past year. I had a complete bone scan done on Friday so I should hear the results tomorrow. I just was reading my previous post and wow, it was as if I was reading about someone else.
I have an appt at the end of December with my Oncologist. January I have a recheck appointment with the GYN Oncologist and then in February a check up with the Radiologist Oncologist. So technically you are never really free. I will see the GYN Oncologist every 3 months for the first year and then every 4 months along with a chest xray. So they are very precautious, which I am thankful. With stage 3B cervical cancer your survival rate is 30%. I think having all this information in my head is not good.
Will I am going to rest some. I will try to update more frequently and share with you life after the big "C". I am suppose to be a guest speaker at a WOAMTEC meeting in January to help raise awareness of Cervical Cancer and also speak to a couple of newspapers as well. I will share and let you know how everything goes. Praying for great results on Monday.
Have a super evening.

It's been awhile
Good Morning,
I know it has been awhile. I finished my treatments and as my energy came back I went full speed ahead as I had done in the past. Carter got sick this past week and it made me realize I was actually exhausted. So this past weekend we did not go anywhere, he needed to get better and I needed to rest. Believe it or not I actually did not do any work related "stuff". I relaxed and it was nice.
Carter drinks alot of chocolate milk so I had been saving the containers. This weekend I thought it was a great opportunity to break out my paints and paint the containers. My new project is to make planters out of them. This way I stay busy but it is more therapeutic.
September is a busy month. I have several doctor appointments at the end of the month. My PET Scan is on 9/17 at 7 am so please keep me in your prayers. I also have the Bridal Luncheon I am participating in on 9/19 and am looking forward to this event. I get to meet so many wonderful people. Then the end of September I believe we will take a much needed mini vacation to St Augustine.
I will be receiving my candle of the month in the next few days "Pumpkin Spice" looking forward to it. Fall is coming in fast. This has definitely been a year.
I have got to go get Carter ready for school, pray everyone has a super day.
